Marcelo Guimaraes Lima is a painter, printmaker and writer. He has taught drawing, painting, printmaking, the history and the theory of art in Brazil, in the United States and in Spain. He has illustrated books, worked with animators, painted murals, directed community-based art projects in the US, in Brazil and in Spain. His work has been exhibited in the US, Europe, UAE and Brazil. Has works in private collections in Europe, Brazil, UAE and the US, as well as in public collections such as the Museu de Arte Contemporanea da USP (Sao Paulo), Rutgers Center for Innovative Printmaking (New Brunswick, NJ, USA), Cabinet des Estampes BNF (Paris). He presently teaches drawing, painting and the history of art at the American University of Dubai, UAE. He is the editor of the newsletter PANOPTIKON: On Contemporary Visual Culture.
